I quickly fell in love with Amelia's determination and strength. Great story that left me wanting more. Can't wait for the sequel!
I really enjoyed reading this book. A great mix up for a young adult read. I loved the characters and great character development. Such a fun read.
I have to give this book an immense amount of credit. The characters are relatable and developed, the setting is unique and fresh, and Meine is an extremely skilled writer that knows how to spin a tale. I will save my full opinion of the saga as a whole in anticipation for the continuation of the trilogy. There's a lot to chew on here, a neo-dystopian sci-fi adventure for all ages, if perhaps on the lighter side, including some gripping moments and unpredictable pros. You'll root for Amelia and her unique band of friends and foes every step of the way!
This book was so powerful and stirring I could hardly put it down! The author, S.G. Meine, really gets inside the character's heads and tracks their thoughts and interactions closely, following a taut strand of exciting developments. The tension continues to rise, and toward the end I began to actually feel excited and frightened about what might happen to the main character and her boyfriend! It takes strong writing to produce that kind of a reaction in anyone! I recommend the book highly, and I think it should be made into a movie as soon as possible! It reads like a movie plot right now, and I can just picture how powerful the visual effects could be!

Loved this! Quick read with a fascinating world that I can't wait to learn more about. Every character has a story that's interesting and unique. You really feel for the main character while she's up in Ixus without her being whiney and useless. She's a strong character who can hold her own in this unfamiliar world, but she's not invincible. A great beginning to a new YA series, and I can't wait for the second one!
I can't wait to get the next book in the series! What a great concept for a book; intriguing, relatable, and well written. I couldn't stop thinking about it when I had to do real life, and I loved jumping back in whenever I got the chance!
I was easily hooked into this totally engaging and delightful book! The characters were distinctively developed, with a heroine that was definitely one you could relate to and cheer on in her adventures! The science-fiction world was intriguing and creatively developed with well-written plot twists jumping between two worlds. Although many different characters are woven into the story, they were introduced and developed wonderfully so you could easily understand and follow the plot. It was a quick read, definitely leaving you hungry for more from this terrific author! What a treat to curl up with a fascinating book and completely lose yourself in another world!
